What's new?
Welcome to the New and Improved Venezuelanalysis.com!
We have not only updated the back-end of our site, making posting articles and other materials easier, but we are introducing a number of new features for the site, such as:
- RSS Feeds and Podcasts – for those who do not know what this is, RSS feeds allows you to use a separate program (such as Google Reader, Thunderbird, akregator, Outlook, or Opera, among others) to collect all the most recent articles from the site (and from other favorite sites), so you do not have to visit these sites, but see all the newest postings in one place. Also, you can now listen to our audio files as podcasts, using iTunes, Amarok or similar programs.
- Relaunch of our newsletter. More regular updates, via e-mail of what is new in Venezuelanalysis.com and distribution of key new articles.
- A new search function, which lets you search for articles not only by keyword, but also by category (labor, economy, etc.), and type (news, analysis, etc.) and also lets you rank results by publication date, keyword relevance, or number of times the article has been viewed.
- Letters to the editor section – we will now post your letters to us! Previously Venezuelanalysis.com did not post your letters, now we will (as long as they fit within our editorial guidelines).
- News articles sorted by category – If you are interested in only a particular type of news story, you can now go to that sub-section, such as, politics, economy, international relations, law & justice, opposition, military, indigenous communities, environment, oil & gas, social programs, mass media, and civil society. These are almost the same categories that we have always had for the analysis articles.
- New sub-sections – We added two new sub-sections: “social programs” and “participatory democracy” (both for news and for analysis articles), since so much has been written on these recently.
- Featured Articles - A selection of what we consider to be the most important articles in each category. If you are new to Venezuela, start reading here.
- New “static” pages (pages that are not so often):
- Basic facts on Venezuela
- The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
- Annotated bibliography of books on Venezuela
- Annotated links on Venezuela
- Books and other products to purchase through the site
- Updated economic indicators
- Video files with important documentaries on Venezuela
We hope you enjoy the new site and that you find it useful for being informed on what is happening in Venezuela. Finally, if you have any suggestions for other changes of features for the site, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
