Over the last month, the Colombian government's strategy has involved a
media campaign with timed leaks of new documents to the New York Times,
the Wall Street Journal, the Miami Herald and other outlets, many of
whom relied on the Colombian interpretation of their meaning, and with
little acknowledgement of the deep controversy surrounding them.
Even if the laptops are found to have belonged to members of the
Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), there is no evidence
that the publicly available documents support any of the extreme claims
by the Colombian government that Venezuela and Ecuador had any sort of
financial relationship with the rebels.
More editorials and OpEds have been written this past year about
Venezuela than ever before, 98% of which are negative, critical, and
aggressive and contain false or manipulated information. We are
therefore led to believe that the Washington Post is promoting an
anti-Venezuela, anti-Chávez agenda.

Venezuela's intention has been to bring illegal oil projects from the
rich Orinoco Oil Belt into its legal framework and thus stop the
continued transferring of resources needed for social development from
the People of Venezuela to the coffers of large foreign multinational
companies.
